Mia got to take a "non-healthy" treat to school today for her birthday, so cupcakes it was! Her class sang Happy Birthday to her and she even got a new book from her teachers! When we came home she opened some more gifts from G'ma & G'pa Heinrich and Great G'ma & G'pa Ingersoll! The b-day festivities just keep coming!!

Kite & Cupcakes
We had our good friends Kirk, Ashley & Nash over Sunday night (Mia's 'real' b-day) to help us eat leftovers from Mia's party. Of course they came bearing gifts for Mia, one of which included a new kite! Nate & Kirk rigged it up and flew it around the neighborhood. I think the guys had more fun with it than the kids :) Our neighbor girl Hallie brought Mia over some b-day candles that spelled out her name, so we blew out some more candles on her half eaten cake!

Dora & Diego Fiesta
We celebrated Mia's 3rd birthday Saturday night with all of her play group friends that she has known since she was just a few months old. Mia chose a Dora & Diego themed party, complete with a pinata, taco bar, "pin the head on Dora" game and Dora & Diego masks! The kids & adults (thanks to help from some margaritas & Corona's) had a great time!

Happy 3rd Birthday Meemers!!
I cannot believe my baby girl is 3 years old today! While 3 years isn't all that long of a time, I feel like she's been in my life forever. Happy birthday to my smiley, chatty, fun, smart, confident, lovable, girlie-girl, Mia Jane!
The story of my life...being late!
All 8 lbs. 8 oz. / 21-1/4 in. of her!
This might be the quietest she's ever been :)

You Go Nate!
Nate recently took a 'team lead' role for John Deere's involvement in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Annually, Deere backs a handful of local and regional charities and this year the Des Moines locations raised money to support JDRF, along with the annual Walk to Cure Diabetes which took place this past Saturday in downtown DM.
Thanks to so many generous family & friends, Nate raised $2,000 in support of this charity, whose mission is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. Way to go Nate!!

Good Books @ Goodwill
The kids and I ran into Goodwill the other day and scored in the children's book section. I got 14 books (Dr. Suess, Arthur, Disney) for $12 (.89 each)! They are in mint condition and ended up costing me less than if I was to go to the bookstore and buy just 1! Can't beat that.
