Arts Fest & Sunday Funday

Des Moines puts on a fabulous Arts Fest every year, with vendors from all over the country.  Great shopping, food & drinks made for a great Sunday afternoon.  Cousin Max was playing in the state baseball tourney earlier that day, so we had a fun time at the ball diamonds too!

Sam 15 Month Check-Up

Well, baby Sam is a growing boy and hardly a baby anymore!  We had his 15 month check-up and he's doing great.  He is 32" inches tall (75%) and 25 lbs. (60%)!  He is meeting all of the developmental milestones (especially the physical ones).  The only question I had to say "no" to, is if he can sit still for a story.  Sam is way too busy for this!  The Dr. laughed and said that he'll get there!  Mia loved books at this age and Sam has no interest, except in throwing them!!  My boy is ALL boy!!  He also had a few shots and handled them like a champ - crying for about 30 seconds.  We also had Sam's 3 month follow-up ENT appointment to look at his ear tubes.  The doctor said they look great!

Fun in the Summer Sun

Here is a random compilation of pictures from some summer fun we've been having!  The kids are absolutely ADDICTED to being outside and I'm not complaining.  Mia has been doing some summer camps through the Y, both kids have library story-time and playgroups, but when we're not at those activities you can find them in our yard, playing hard with all of the neighbor kids!  Our street is teaming with kids day and night, which is just so awesome.  Makes me never want to move!!

G'ma Heinrich scored on this free water table & the kids love it!

Of course Mia even beat the boys!

We Love Daddy Weekend

Again, I am terribly behind on pics!  Here are some ones from Father's Day earlier this month.  We had a great weekend at home, going to the downtown DM Farmer's Market and Pool for the first time this year!  Our summer had been so cold & rainy, especially on the weekends, so we were happy to get out and about with daddy...finally!

Sam did great at the pool - he loves the water - dunking his head and even going down the slide into about 3 ft of water.  He is wild and crazy, even in the water!!  I guess I shouldn't be surpised!  Mia on the other hand was quite timid in the deeper water.  We decided that we needed to get her in swim lessons to get her more acclimated to the water, since I can't be much assistance with her while trying to manage Sam at the same time.  She starts her private lessons the first week of August and I think it will be great for her!
